Bathsheba Demuth is an assistant professor of history at Brown University in Rhode Island and author of Floating Coast: An Environmental History of the Bering Strait (Norton, 2019). Her writing on animals, energy, the Arctic, and environmental change has appeared in the Boston Globe, the New Yorker, Aeon, The Atlantic, and other publications. When not up north, she lives in Rhode Island.
