Michael Tennesen is a freelance science and nature writer who has written for Discover, Scientific American, Science, New Scientist, Smithsonian, and others. He was media fellow at the Nicholas School of the Environment at Duke University, and a writer in residence at the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies in Millbrook, New York. His latest book, The Next Species: The Future of Evolution in the Aftermath of Man, was published by Simon & Schuster. He lives in California near Joshua Tree National Park.
