Craig Welch has been writing about natural resources from the Pacific Northwest for a quarter century. He spent more than eight years as a senior staff writer for National Geographic, reporting from all seven continents. Before that, he worked as an environment reporter for The Seattle Times. Welch has been a fellow with the Nieman Foundation for Journalism at Harvard University, and started his career in Wyoming writing about Yellowstone National Park. He lives with his family in Seattle, a short jog from the Salish Sea.
